Most junk removal companies — including us — can take the vast majority of household items. But there are some things that legally can't go in our truck, and it's important to know what they are before you book.
Items We Cannot Take
- Hazardous materials — paint, solvents, pesticides, motor oil, and other chemicals
- Asbestos — requires specialized abatement contractors
- Full propane tanks — must be empty before we can take BBQs or heaters
- Medical waste — needles, medications, and medical equipment
- Radioactive materials
What to Do With Restricted Items
Hazardous household waste (paint, chemicals, batteries, fluorescent bulbs): Durham Region operates Household Hazardous Waste depots. Check the Region of Durham website for drop-off locations and hours.
Medications: Most pharmacies in Durham Region accept unused medications for safe disposal.
Propane tanks: Many hardware stores and propane suppliers accept empty tanks for exchange or disposal.
Items People Think We Can't Take (But We Can)
A lot of people assume we can't take certain items — but we actually can:
- Mattresses and box springs
- Appliances (including fridges with freon)
- Electronics and e-waste
- Tires (priced per tire)
- Hot tubs and sheds (we dismantle them)
- Renovation debris including drywall and flooring
